Making the Best out of the Cold Winter Months

Servicing customers in the dead of winter can be overwhelming if you are not prepared. That is why many field technicians and installers like to prepare in advance.

Here are some helpful tips to help ensure you and your team are ready to support your customers without incurring additional headaches!

  1. Ensure you have an appointment at the place you will be servicing.

Try to stick to that time. By showing your customers you respect their time, they will surely be more inclined to respect yours!

  2. Offer your customers a way to connect with you quickly.

Texting apps such as the PROKEEP app facilitates texting and messaging right into your standard phone line! Controls Central customers can now text our customer service team with their orders, compatibility questions and get responses right on their phone!

The bottom line is, that the easier you make it for your customers to stay in touch with you, the better their experience.

  3. Do a pre-inventory check before hitting the road. Check for standard items that are always needed. You know what those are for your business. Items such as valvesactuatorsfilters and pumps are always in high-demand. Make sure those and other ‘basics’ are available.

  4. Ensure you and your crew have personal supplies that can help keep them warm and safe during unexpected weather.

Especially for those that must drive miles to get to a job site, keeping a few essentials on hand will come in handy.

Here are a few simple things to carry that won't cost much but can make a difference.

  • Warm Jacket

  • Protein Bars and non-perishable snacks

  • Ensure your vehicle's permits and safety gear are all in check.

  • Pack a small portable heater- for those days when servicing will require you or your team to be outside, a heater may help make those uncomfortable moments in freezing weather more bearable.

  • Ensure enough battery, fuel, or gas to avoid having to re-fuel or run out altogether in bad weather.

These are some tips to help get you and your team safely through the wintertime. What are your tips for working and making your customers happy during tough winter days?
