Why You Should Choose The iWave-R Air Purification System

Are you ready to revolutionize your approach to air purification?

Why You Should Choose
The iWave-R Air Purification System

According to the EPA, Americans spend 90% of their time indoors. Shouldn't the air you breathe be as clean and healthy as possible?

Unfortunately, this isn't usually the case. The EPA also explains that concentrations of common pollutants are usually two to five times higher indoors than out.

With the Nu-Calgon iWave-R Air Purification System, you can breathe a little easier.

This innovative air treatment system does more than simply treat the air in your residential A/C system. It kills allergens, reduces odors, and even cleans itself.

Today, we're taking a closer look at how it works and the features that make it so unique.

Why Does Indoor Air Quality Matter?

On a daily basis, you could be exposed to a range of different pollutants that contaminate your indoor air.

Some of the most common ones include:

  • Combustion byproducts (carbon monoxide, particulates)
  • Smoke (cooking, candles, fireplaces, tobacco)
  • Natural substances (mold, radon, pet dander)
  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs, from various products/materials)

Some compounds, like dust mites, mold, and pet dander, can act as allergens. When exposed to them, you may notice that you experience respiratory symptoms, such as a runny nose or a sore throat.

In one survey of more than 830 housing units across 75 different U.S. locations, researchers found that 51.5% of homes had at least six detectable allergens, and 45.8% had at least three allergens that exceeded elevated levels.

The filters on your HVAC system can help trap and eliminate some of this matter. Yet, they cannot effectively remove it from the air around you.

This is why an air ionization system like the iWave-R is so important. Let's review some of its top-rated features.

What is the iWave-R?

The iWave-R isn't the first air purification system on the market. However, it's by far the smartest and most advanced.

This system has been installed in more than 700,000 units and continues to perform at top capacity.

This is the very first self-cleaning needlepoint bi-polar ionization generator designed specifically to treat the air in a residential duct air conditioning system.

The system requires no maintenance, nor does it need any replacement parts. As soon as you install it, you can rest assured that it will work as expected without any extra effort on your part.

How Does It Work?

What makes the iWave-R the best air purifier on the market? The key is its unique operating process.

As supply air flows past the system, it emits positive and negative ions that actively treat it on the spot, removing specific bacteria and viruses in the coil and living space.

This ionization process also reduces other pollutants, including smoke and static electricity. If there are odors in the air (VOCs, cooking smoke, pet dander), it controls those, too.

As you run the system, you can be confident you're doing your part to improve indoor air quality and aren't introducing excess ozone back into the environment. In fact, the iWave-R is validated to meet all UL 867 ozone requirements.

System Compatibility

Worried that the iWave-R won't work with your current HVAC system? Don't be.

This system can treat the air in any brand of residential duct air conditioning systems up to six tons, or 2400 CFM in size. Its universal mounting system also makes it a cinch to install, and it comes together in just minutes.

You can position the iWave-R inside or outside of your duct. Or, you can attach it magnetically near the indoor fan in the air handler. There are three common mounting options:

  • Fan Inlet Mount
With this mount, internal magnets will hold the unit to the fan inlet on the shaft side. If you go this route, you'll need to make sure that the iWave-R is safeguarded against fan vibration. Short-length, self-tapping screws are best and will not impair the fan's operation.
  • Inside Wall/Cabinet Mount
With this mount, internal magnets will hold the unit to the wall duct. Or, they can hold it to the air handler metal panel.
  • External Duct Mount
If you want to mount the system externally, you can cut or drill a 3-inch hold in the duct to install it. Then, use two self-tapping screws to hold the unit to the duct.

Note that the iWave-R is designed for this type of installation. A flush, external duct mount install is optional in most cases.

Operating the System

Once you're ready to get it up and running, we've included detailed instructions on how to connect all of the components of the iWave-R safely and effectively.

The system will mount after your particle filter and before the indoor coil. This helps control pathogens and odors through the full depth of the coil, as well as within the breathing space.

When everything is connected, you can sit back, relax, and breathe more easily.

The sophisticated iWave technology is always optimized, working at peak performance to produce more than 160 million ions/cc per polarity for a total of 320 million total ions/cc. That goes beyond the capacity of any other air ionizer on the market.

Maintenance and Upkeep

As mentioned, the iWave-R doesn't require any maintenance. It features a patent-pending self-cleaning design that takes care of all of the legwork for you.

You can program the cleaning cycle according to your needs and schedule. There are options to clean the emitter brushes on four different cycles, including:

  • Every day
  • Every three days
  • Every five days
  • Every 10 days

Unless you customize the settings, the iWave-R is factory-set to clean every three days. This is appropriate for a typical installation, though you're free to adjust the settings.
